EHS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
April 23, 2007
Minutes

President Carol Gossett-Cooper was absent so Connie Goins made a motion to open the meeting and Glen Morrow seconded. Present were Connie Goins, Glen Morrow, Arlene Becken and Cammi Veenstra. Minutes from September 25, 2006 were read and approved. Financial statement from 9-26-06 through 4-23-07 was read and approved.

COMMUNICATIONS: Glen Morrow received a letter promoting the EHS Alumni "Mr V" baseball tournament benefiting the EHS baseball program. They were wanting an article put in our newsletter to encourage participants. Since the tournament is before our annual newsletter is published Cammi Veenstra stated she would get a hold of the organizer and volunteer to publish theresults in the newsletter.

OLD BUSINESS/NEW BUSINESS: It was discussed as to how to handle the $500 donation by Ray Aspiri requesting a "Mr V" Scholarship. At our September 2006 meeting there was some concern as to violating the by-laws, and if maybe we should increase the amount of scholarships we are currently giving. After a short discussion it was decided if the scholarship was worded correctly we would just be the middle man awarding the donation. So, as per Ray's request, we will award a $500 "Mr V" scholarship donated by Ray Aspiri administered by EHS Alumni. It was also decided that we would continue to award 3 scholarships but would increase the amount to $500 this year. The amounts that we give each year will be determined by the Alumni's financial status at that given time. Glen Morrow made a motion to increase the 3 scholarship amounts to $500 this year, motion was seconded by Connie Goins.

Cammi Veenstra announced that the Annuity we opened last year with Western United payed over 6% for the year, which is very good considering current interest rates being paid. Our three scholarship receipiants this year are Maigan Walker, Nicole Holbrook and Heidi Nevers. Amberly Beckman was awarded the "Mr V" Scholarship donated by Ray Aspiri. Congratulations to these young kids, all of which have one or both parents as EHS Alumni. It was requested that an ad be put in the Messenger Index "bits and pieces" section, which there is no charge, for our September meeting. Cammi Veenstra said that she would get that done. It was discussed what we could do to get more people involved in the Alumni Association so we would not be forced to disband. Head count at our meetings has been very low and interest in the Association definetly needs to be jump started. Connie Goins said she would make some phone calls and try to stir up some interest. We will beg people in our newsletter to become involved so we can keep the association going.

Connie Goins also volunteered to make the phone calls and reserve a room at the high school for our next meeting, which will be September 24, 2007 @ 7:00pm.

Glen Morrow made a motion to adjourn the meeting a 8:35, Connie Goins seconded.
