You are here: Classes » 1954 Class of '54 Class History Our four years of high school have gone rapidly and successfully. Our knowledge and experience have grown like a pyramid. We started working at the bottom and flew to the top with the reputation of a class that backs up their ideas and puts through any project they start on. During our freshman year we laid the base of our pyramid. We elected Larry Coonrod president; Bruce Wood, vice president; Wayne Crosby, secretary-treasurer. We weren’t too well-known but with the help of Miss Rambo, class advisor, we managed to build a solid foundation, just as the first E.H.S. students built a good foundation fifty years ago. We were a little braver as sophomores and we added a brick or two to the pyramid when we won the Frosh-Soph rally. We were mighty proud of Bill Green, two-year letterman who played right end on the football team. Bill was the only sophomore on the squad. Class officers were Tony Villanueva, president; Gary Butler, vice president; Sharon Brubaker, secretary-treasurer. Mrs. Delia Swan was our adviser. We were almost to the top of the pyramid when we were juniors. We felt pretty important when eleven of us were tapped for National Honor Society. Ron Miner, president; Wayne Crosby, vice president; Tollie Gwynn, treasurer; Marie Davis secretary, piloted us through the year with the help of Gerald Reed, class adviser and Mrs. Virginia Garfield, play director. Our class play, “The Curious Savage,” ran two nights. We really won the recognition when we gave the seniors an elaborate prom preceded by a banquet. As seniors our first big thrill was our class rings. Warren Harris, class adviser, and Kenneth Brown, play director, worked along with Jack Bean, president; Charles Carroll, vice president; Elaine Moyer, secretary; Donna Heap, treasurer, to put the top on our pyramid. “Hillbilly Weddin’,” our senior class play, was a great success. We had a record crowd and made a lot of money. As a result this annual cover is padded. Then came announcement and card orders, our Sneak Day, and finally our long awaited graduation. The class of 1954, the last class to be graduated in this building, has made a lasting peak on the top of the pyramid. Class Officers in 1954 Elaine Moyer Secretary |
