Class of '75

The following was taken from the 1975 Squaw Butte Saga ...

We started out our sophomore year at E.H.S. by choosing our class officers: president, Brent Carroll; vice-president, ¬Rhonda Adams; secretary, Lois Anderson; treasurer, Lori Stiles; sergeant-at-arms, Galen Hamilton; with Mr. Bois and Mr. Puschmann as our advisors.  We did not feel a real need for money, so our efforts in that area were few.  We entered our float in the Homecoming Parade called, “Knight of the Cat-Astrophe” to spirit our boys on against the Bishop Kelly Knights. Our float won second place.

During our junior year we entered our float in the Homecoming Parade and came out with first place!  It was a cannon blasting a pirate’s ship with a pirate (alias David Surber) peeking out, to depict our game against the Payette Pirates.  We held the annual magazine sale to raise money for the Junior-Senior Prom.  We reached our goal of $2,000 with Lori Winward as our top salesperson.  Also to raise money that year we raffled off a stereo.  The prom was a success with rainbow-colored decorations and a theme of “Pieces of April”.  Our class officers for the year were: president, Lee Rood; vice-president, Gail Swander; secretary-treasurer, Janet Obermeyer; sergeant-at-arms, Joey Keene; with Mr. Bois and Mr. Barnes as our advisors.

We finally made it!  With this attitude we started back for our last year at E.H.S.  We entered our float again, but this year we did not place.  The senior girls challenged the junior girls in the annual Powderpuff football game which ended in a tie with a record number of injuries.  Our class officers for this, our last year, were: president, David Obermeyer; vice-president, Lee Rood; secretary-treasurer, Joan Crea; sergeant-at-arms, Joey Keene; with Mr. Wayne Rexford and Mr. Jim Barnes as our helpful advisors.  Our emotions were mixed as we left the halls of Emmett High School.
