You are here: Classes » 1982 Class of '82 We all have memories of our childhood--that family vacation, the special friend we yelled at one minute and laughed with the next, and now our high school years are a memory too. Now that school is over the moments can only be cherished in the heart. We were off to a great start when we entered the halls of EHS in 1978. To lead us through our first year we chose our class officers Cliff Cannon, president; JoGina Polson, vice-president; Jeff Walker, secretary-treasurer; Stacey Phillips and Kurt Leusch, representatives. Our advisors were Mr. Echeverria and Mr. Steiner. We weren't the only newcomers to the school; this was the first year for our principal, Mr. Eisenbarth. The theme for Homecoming was "Friday Night Fever" and our first try at building a float came in third. One highlight of our freshman year was when we beat Bishop Kelly, 21-7, in football for the first time in fourteen years. We began our sophomore year by electing our class officers with Bill Parker, president; Annette Blevins, vice-president; Stacey Phillips, secretary; Bob Brooks, treasurer; and Paul Drake and Marina Guzman, representatives. The Homecoming theme was "Something Special" and our float placed second. This was the year to start making money for the Junior-Senior Prom, so we sold candy as our first fund-raiser. Time was flying by and we soon found ourselves to be upperclassmen. Class officers were JoGina Polson, president; Curt Garner, vice-president: Stacey Phillips, secretary; Eric Jensen, treasurer; Stephanie Parker and Brett Cox representatives. We showed the class of 1981 who was the best by entering our float. "Stairway to State," in the Homecoming parade and winning first place honors. We weren't so lucky, though, when we lost to the senior girls in a powderpuff football game. Much energy was centered on the major event of the year - the Prom. We were busy selling magazine subscriptions to raise money and we were just as busy spending it for the Prom. It was held April 25th in the National Guard Armory. The theme was "We May Never Pass This Way Again." The dance was a wonderful ending for a great year. And they said the Armory would be a pit... We also wanted the years to pass by quickly. Often we heard ourselves say: "I can't wait 'til I'm a senior!," "I can't wait until graduation!" or "I wish I was out of this place!" Then, all of a sudden the time was here and gone and we wondered ho the year went by so quickly. For our final year we elected Mike Mathews, president; Annette Blevins, vice-president; Stacey Phillips, secretary; Valerie Radandt, treasurer; and Alan Poff and Stephanie Parker, representatives. Our float took first place again during Homecoming activities, but the senior girls broke tradition by losing to the junior girls in a game of powderpuff football. On January 18th we staged a most successful senior skip, relieving just a little of what wes called "senioritis." As May 23rd arrived we could look back on school and recall a time of learning-learning about leadership, growth, and friendship. And most of all, we learned about ourselves through working together, sharing together, and giving of ourselves. We learned that the best and most beautiful things cannot be seen or touched, but are felt with the heart... These are our memories.
